CRÓNICA DE UNA CORRIDA DE TOROS

Comienza la corrida. He visto la incomparable estampa del toro de lidia, cargando con toda la fuerza y la fiereza como corresponde a su estirpe, atacando a esas torres de potentes percherones. He visto el enfrentamiento de poder a poder del banderillero, que a treinta centímetros de dos facas inmisericordes sale del trance con un primoroso quiebro. A un maestro y un toro que en escasos minutos son trasunto de un artístico ballet, arrancando los olés más enfervorizados y obligando a la banda municipal a poner su contrapunto al momento de éxtasis colectivo. Unos minutos más y una certera estocada provoca el delirio de un público, que apenas ha tenido tiempo de ver si el toro ha sufrido o no. Creo que tampoco el toro ha dado señales de esa sensación. Ha rodado sin puntilla. Ha tenido una muerte rápida después de una dulce vida.

CHRONICLE OF A BULL FIGHT

The fight begins. I have seen the superb figure of the fighting bull, charging with the typical strength and fierceness of his stock, attacking those towering and powerful horses. I have seen the even confrontation with the banderillero, who, thirty centimeters away from two merciless knives, saves the difficult moment with a fine dodge. A matador and a bull that in a few minutes become the image of an artistic ballet, eliciting frenzied calls from the crowd and forcing the band to accompany the moment of collective ecstasy. A few more minutes and an accurate sword thrust causes the crowd to go wild, hardly noticing whether the bull has suffered or not. I think the bull hasn´t shown any signs of suffering either. The dagger hasn´t been necessary. It has died fast after a sweet life.
